- My name is Cristina Woessner.
- Reading fictional novels is my favorite pastime.
- I read whenever I have free time.
- I also tend to read books wherever I can, though I prefer to be alone in a dark room while reading.
- I need fantasy to escape reality.
- I tend to have better friendships with fictional characters than with real people.
- Books almost always lack hordes of swag-children.
- Reading gives me an excuse not to socialize.
- When I read, I feel like I am actually living in the story.
- Even distopian worlds are better than the real world.
Reading is beneficial and fun to do.
- According to the New York Times, Harry Potter is the most influential book in the world and "topped such standards as Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird,” J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and … the Bible." This shows that the Harry Potter series is probably the best book series in the world. Especially if more copies were sold than the bible which was the most sold book in the world. This clearly shows that reading for fun is just as popular as reading for religion.
- The New York Times also stated that "Researchers from several European universities found that reading Harry Potter may make young people more tolerant" Harry Potter can also make the world better. In case you haven't noticed, our world isn't that great, so to have a book series make even the smallest difference is amazing. When we needed a change, J.K. Rowling came to the rescue and made one.
- According to the Booklist in praise for The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan, "There is plenty of fast-paced action, including combat scenes with formidable enemies, as well as occasional comic relief." This shows that reading is the best thing ever because the action and emotions makes it interesting. In order to be engaged in reading, we need to have some interesting fight scenes. The Heroes of Olympus series gives us that needed action as well as several reasons to laugh, and sometimes, cry (maybe.)
- According to Beyond Hogwarts, "J.K. Rowling has announced in new interviews with the Today show on NBC TV today (July 26) that the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was vague on purpose."
- J.K. Rowling to USA Today about Harry Potter's survival at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, "In the book, Voldemort meets his end and Harry lives. But J.K. said Harry's survival was not always a certainty." The last two quotes show that reading is amazing because it keeps the readers guessing and on on the edges of their seats to find out what happens next. When a book is vague or uncertain, it causes readers to use their imaginations to either finish the story or add more to it. It gives them a reason to be creative. This is why reading is beneficial and fun.
